For the past decade, Woodcraft Magazine has had the privilege of working with West Virginia woodworker, Bill Sands. An excellent craftsman and designer, Bill’s stories were always a pleasure to produce featuring thoughtful designs and clever, but accessible techniques. Sadly, Bill passed in April of 2023, leaving in the middle of another splendid project: the frame-and-panel planters that grace the cover of our April/May 2024 issue. In honor of Bill’s legacy, here are all of his stories that appeared on our pages. And, as Bill would say at the end of his self-published shop newsletter “Mourn the dragons!”
