Designing and creating cutting boards have never been so easy. In addition to offering conventional square cutting board designs and products, Woodcraft has added new contoured design templates for you to make special shape boards for any occasion. This is an idea that came from the heart of our Woodcraft product design guys, George Snyder and Ben Bice. When they’re not at their desks, they can always be found in the woodshop, coming up with new innovative and fun ideas for you to make in your woodshop. On top of that, they spend whatever spare time they have teaching and helping all of us at Woodcraft.

This shop is where many projects and products get designed, built, tested, photographed, and videoed for our magazines, catalogs, tabs, and social media departments. Recently, George and Ben came up with 16 shapely design templates to help you easily make cutting boards. Creating your own repetitive shapes has never been easier! Simply trace out the cutting board using the templates and Rough Cut them. Then, using double-sided tape, templates and a router with a flush-trim bit, trim the boards to the final dimensions.
Part of the charm of making a cutting board is in its usefulness, aesthetics, and wood choice. You might even say that every cutting board has its own personality reflective of its creator, which can make it a great gift. The challenge is to make several boards of the same shape. It is much easier to make several boards at the same time, since you can run through similar glue-ups, clamping, using various same tools and machines to simplify the process. We have created templates in several shapes that allow you to easily make repetitive designs. The 1/2″ MDF boards provide a solid surface for holding the bearing or guide bushing. All of the templates will work for a 12″ x 16″ board.
Choose from the many selections of domestic and exotic solid wood slabs that Woodcraft has to offer. Woodcraft has also simplified the cutting board creation process by offering pre-milled stock for you. You can pick through our extensive array of exotic and domestic pre-cut woods to make a custom cutting board or cheese board. To make it even easier, we put our talented staff to work to create 12 color and size combinations in a wide range of kits and prices.
