Carter’s patented Stabilizer® offers a distinct alternative to conventional guides by avoiding the typical three-sided immovable support for the blade. Instead, it features a grooved bearing wheel that effectively keeps the blade from moving backward or shifting laterally, while still allowing for slight twisting at the front. This design enables the user to execute tight, intricate curves unattainable with traditional guide systems.
While standard guides and Carter Conversion kits can facilitate curve cutting, they are limited by the blade's width relative to the curve's radius. In contrast, the Stabilizer® allows the blade to twist and adjust, freeing the user from limitations imposed by blade width when creating curves.
In essence, these two types of guides fulfill different needs: the Stabilizer® empowers users to perform intricate, scroll saw-like cuts with a bandsaw, while Carter's roller bearing conversion kits offer robust three-sided support for achieving perfectly straight resaw and rip cuts, as well as traditional radius curves, surpassing the performance of other guide systems available.
