This class will teach you how to safely set up and operate a scroll saw. Learn how to cut tight radius curves and intricate fretwork without chipout and with minimal sanding. Blade tensioning and selection will also be covered. Hands-on projects will be made in class.
Learn how to use the basic turning tools and how to keep them sharp. You will learn general lathe use, safety, correct turning speeds, how to mount wood, and when and how to make different types of cuts. Required tools: Face Shield, 1/2" Skew, 1/2" Spindle Gouge, Parting Tool, Roughing Gouge. One hour break for lunch (not provided). Our staff will teach you how to make your own exotic wooden pen. You will receive instruction and practice on the lathe as you create your own unique writing instrument.
This entry-level class introduces students to the world of CNC woodworking using Vectric VCarve software. Students will explore the fundamentals of CNC theory, learn how to operate design software, and get hands-on experience by creating a custom project of their own.
Enjoy several hours of bowl turning. Learn to select and use readily available wood for bowl blanks, and how to take a log to a finished bowl. Mounting methods, surface preparation, sanding and finishing methods are covered. Each student will take home a finished bowl. One hour break for lunch (not provided).
